So, Howard Hampton thinks that people that are super achievers and make lots of money should pay more taxes. How nice of him.
Lets take a look at Howie’s proposal. A person that grosses $100,000 a year, pays 1/3 of what he make as income taxes. Assuming he has a fairly nice home,
add another $5,000 a year. Let’s not forget PST and GST on any items purchased. Yikes! I almost forgot gasoline taxes. (What percentage are they at now?)
Last but not least add the “sin” taxes. (The poor fellow has taken to drink with all the demands put on him). So at the end of the year, this highly
motivated, hard working person’s reward is to hand over ½ of his income to the government.
Howard Hampton thinks that paying half of ones hard earned dollars isn’t enough. He thinks that a hard working person who works long hours should contribute
more in taxes to support government handouts. What next Howard? Do you want this individual to turn half his home over to the homeless as well?
Please Howard, take your hand out of his pocket. He has enough trouble walking without dragging you along.
