Java To Die For ... in Palgrave? by Patrick Parnaby

Several months ago a new shop opened up in Palgrave and it has quickly become one of my favourite places to relax. Timeslip Secondhand Books and Café is located right in the heart of Palgrave, just a few doors down from the famous Palgrave Variety store. If you love to read and are looking for a bargain, this is the place to be. The selection is fantastic, it rotates on a regular basis, and the great condition of all the books ensures that each purchase is worthwhile. From the moment you enter the shop, it becomes apparent that it is, indeed, a labour of love for owners Mike and Arlene. The books are selected and sorted with care, the place is always clean and inviting, and the sandwiches and treats are simply out of this world.

In addition to a great selection of books, Timeslip offers Fair trade coffee which, although, grown in various parts of the world, comes primarily from Mexico and South America. Unlike the brands at the local supermarket, Fair trade is grown, harvested, and distributed through co-op farms that strive to ensure each worker is given a living wage for their hard work. Fair wages for coffee growers helps to ensure they have clothing, education, and clean drinking water. Although Fair trade is more expensive to buy, its price reflects the true value of the product - it's coffee with a conscience and is worth every cent. Once you try it, you'll never give it up.

If you're on your way through Palgrave, stop in and say hello. And, while you're at it, grab a cup of coffee and a book to read, then pull up a stool and relax. Can you believe it? All this right in our very own Palgrave?
